Revenue forgone from gas export tax since 2022

It's our gas, we deserve a fair return.

The great
gas scam.

Multinational gas companies are making billions in profit from Australian resources and paying almost nothing back. Norway taxed their gas and built a sovereign wealth fund worth more than $3 trillion. We getting ripped off.

Senator David Pocock is calling for a 25% tax on gas export revenue to deliver a fair return for every Australian.

Petition

Tax our gas. Fund our future.

Australia is one of the world's biggest gas exporters, yet thanks to a broken tax system, the multinational companies shipping our gas overseas pay next to nothing for our offshore gas.

Australians are experiencing rising costs and stretched public services, but gas corporations are posting huge profits and exploiting loopholes to avoid paying their fair share.

We call on the Albanese Government to introduce a 25% tax on gas export revenue, so Australians finally get a fair return from our own resources.

Aussies paid more tax on beer
than gas companies paid for offshore gas.

In the current financial year, Australians are expected to pay $2.7 billion in beer excise — while the Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT), the tax levied on our offshore gas, will raise just $1.5 billion.
